Each day closer to your arrival, I look ahead into a world more and more unknown than the one I knew

I have been gifted the responsibility and honour of being your mother. I do not know what awaits me on the other side of this letter, what I do know is that I will be your pillar of strength.
Even though within I am shaking like a leaf on a tree in a storm.
With less than one month till your birth, I would like to start being your pillar of strength.
I want to protect you from the harsh, cruel world you are being born into. I would love it if you were being born in a fair, just society, that recognises you for your grand uniqueness. A world that looks past the labels you did not ask for, a healthy, self-sustaining world, filled with kindness and love.
I can’t isolate you from the reality that you will one day face, I can, however, do what your grandparents did for me, educate you emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, show you the truth, love, and teach you how to fight.
But for now, let your father and I do the fighting. We promise to try.
Grow strong, learn, love, and become unstoppable, don’t let anyone or state determine your worth.
You are great, child of the universe, for the universe is what you are made of.
Always and forever
love
Mom
“Being a mother is learning about the strengths you didn’t know you had, and dealing with the fears, you didn’t know existed.”
– Linda Wooten
