What the actual F*#k is going on with the world!*
This letter was written before it was published. It was written in the beginning of the 1st wave in Italy in 2020.
Where do I begin? Things have changed, and for the 1st time in my life, I don’t know what to do!
Ok, so here is the down-low, the future of this world is currently undergoing a paradigm shift. There is a threat to our current reality. Things were going just fine (or was it) until this virus called Corona made an appearance.
This seems to be an opening of some kind of SciFi-end-of-world thriller. Have we as the human race finally broke the proverbial camels back? Is this the point of no return, where we will be ruled by talking apes on horseback or having to make a provision run in a town ridden with zombies!
Corona is here, and I am sorry for bringing you into a world where I have no control – makes me wonder if I ever did I have control.
I hope that you will read about this in a history book one day. In a world without zombies or any other apocalyptic creatures or environments. Oh, the contrary, I hope you will read this in a world filled with more compassion and respect for each other as well as nature. Our mistakes and the mistakes of the previous generations will not get repeated.
This virus, if not the end, is our wake up call as the human race. It is a good time to have a pit stop and redefine our existence. Make those changes!
A new phrase was born the other day, “Social Distancing”. It is a form of isolation from society to curb the spread of this virus. Can I distance myself entirely? I am carrying you, my dearest little warrior, and now I have to carry you in the safety of my four walls. Sacrificing our free movement so that one day you can move freely and healthily.
We have gone into a full lockdown. For now, there will be no more walks in the park, no hugging or visiting other family members, no shopping in malls. Hand sanitisers everywhere. There are long lines outside the supermarkets (looking like a modern-day great depression), people are wearing all forms of protective masks and there are some that don’t even care to use one. People are mad dashing for toilet paper around the world. Yes, I said toilet paper!
Your dad told me to focus on you and leave the outside world outside and socially distance myself from a hard and challenging uncertain period. You are our true north and even with all this white noise happening outside my door, you calm me, my silence, my zen.
I felt you move this evening for the 1st time and I know that you are reminding me that we are in this together and we shall overcome.
I just hope this will come to an end and very soon, in fact I hope and pray with all my heart it ends before you are born. That this is not a saga, just a filler episode in the series called life.
Shine bright my light. I can’t wait to meet you! But for now stay safe and sound in my belly.
